Therapy for Couples and Families

Human beings are formed in relationships, and while relationships can be one of the greatest crucibles for healing and transformation, they can also be a tremendous source of confusion, pain, overwhelm and heartbreak. Many of us carry deep relational wounds, even inheriting them transgenerationally.

I help people learn how to cultivate the skills and Self-development needed to move from stuck, harmful relational cycles to generative, nourishing and supportive partnerships.

The primary modality that I use in supporting couples and relationships is the Internal Family System model (IFS) applied to intimate relationships: Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO), developed by Toni Herbine-Blank. I have completed both Basic and Advanced training in IFIO.

Using IFIO, I provide a safe container for folks to:

  • Slow conflicts down and interrupt harmful cycles

  • Grow your curiosity about yourself and your own reactivity

  • Discover how protective defenses (often developed in childhood) are impacting current dynamics

  • Develop new skills for speaking and listening in ways that can invite rather than threaten, fostering intimacy

  • Cultivate the stable internal attachment needed for moments when the other is unavailable

  • Deepen experiences of open-hearted connection and care

  • Strengthen self-regulation and Self-leadership

  • Release personal and legacy burdens

  • Develop the framework needed to truly resolve conflicts, repair ruptures and return to reconnection

  • Discover how intimate relationship itself can be a powerful vehicle for growth and healing

Whether you're feeling stuck in your relationship(s), struggling with conflict in family interactions, entering or letting go of a stage of relationship, exploring a change or want to uncover how past hurts or current challenges keep you stuck, I can help you foster an entirely new way of being in relationship.

IFIO is a methodology of couple therapy based primarily on Internal Family Systems Therapy (link), the primary model that I utilize with clients.

My approach is rooted in systemic couple and family therapy treatment orientations and anti-oppression practices. I lovingly confront patterns of oppression when they arise in my office, and I support clients in learning how to transform these patterns and liberate themselves and each other from internalized oppression in all its forms.
